A 10 minute drive will bring you to Birr Castle where you will find the famous Great Telescope built in 1845, the largest in the world for over 70 years. Also close by is the lovely River Shannon and the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise, one of Europe's most highly regarded sites of its kind, founded in 545AD by St. Ciaran.

In addition, Aaron Guesthouse is only 37km from the Offaly village of Moneygall, the ancestral home of United States President Barack Obama.
